Cashew

Cashew, also known as cashew nuts, is a long-term industrial tree, typically 5-10 meters tall, with a short trunk and long branches. The cashew fruit has two parts: the false fruit and the true fruit. The false fruit, which develops from the flower stalk, is 10–12 cm long and 4–8 cm in diameter. It is ripe, edible, and comes in various colors such as red, purple, and yellow. The true fruit, containing the cashew kernel, is the part of the cashew nut with its shell intact. It is 2-3 cm long, weighs 5-9 grams, and has a hard, gray outer shell. Inside, there is a kidney-shaped cashew kernel, which contains fatty oil and is the most valuable part of the cashew tree.

Vietnam currently has the largest cashew kernel export output in the world. Cashews are primarily grown in the Central Highlands and Southeast provinces. The provinces with the largest cashew-growing areas include Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Dak Lak, Binh Thuan, and Binh Dinh.
